Sometimes Sammy and my foster bun-buns need encouraging to go back into their cages especially when they hide behind the outside cages or any other small space. Being the loving mother that I am, I often gently guide them back in using a broom.
This morning Sammy was being a pill and would not go back into his Samuel's Grand Manor (as my friend calls it) so I grabbed the broom to guide him back in. When I grabbed the broom, I started laughing because I remembered my grandma. She disliked cats so growing up when whenever a stray cat showed up uninvited into her yard, she would chase it away by running after with a broom. :)

Say What???
Admit it, you have done it too. We all been there where we are listening to a song and completely misunderstand the lyrics. This morning on my way to work, I heard the song, "Like a G-6" and had to giggle. When the song first started playing on the radio, I honestly thought it said, "Like a Cheesestick" and I thought to myself what a stupid song. The next time I heard the song, I realized it was like a G-6. I still think the song is stupid.
And while we are on the subject of lyrics, I am still waiting to find out what "that" is from the Meatloaf song, "I Will Do Anything for Love." Don't get me wrong, I love that song, but I have patiently waiting since 1993 to find out what he won't do. C'Mon Meatloaf- you are getting really old and probably will be dead soon, please spill the beans :)

The Zoo
My friends often jokingly refer to my collection of "children" as the zoo. Which of course, I do not mind although I find it funny because to me I really don't have that many. I volunteer and technically work for the SPCA on the weekends, most people that I know from there, have more animals than I do so I don't think having 4 is too many. I also have 3 foster babies too under my roof (or should I say Jeff's roof) at this time.
Before I go sharing the funny stuff that my children do on a daily basis, I want to share a little of background about each of them. I will start from the oldest to the youngest. My oldest kiddies are my cats, Grey & Izzy, whom I adopted a couple of years ago from the Wyoming County SPCA. I went there with every intention of adopting an older cat and walked out with a 3 month old brother and sister pair. While I was walking around the cat room, I came upon a cage that had a cute little grey cat in it. So I peered into the cage and said, " Hi, baby!" That little cat got so excited that she fell right into her water bowl. At that moment, I knew she was my cat and I had to take her home. The lady at the shelter was quick to point out that she had a brother and they were bonded. My boyfriend at the time was not too keen on the idea of taking home two cats but of course, I got my way and walked out with two young cats, Mark and Stefania. The first thing I did was change their name to Grey & Izzy. My then boyfriend wanted to name them Grey & Scarlet after the Ohio State colors. I wanted to name them after my favorite TV show, Grey's Anatomy so that is how they got their names. When my boyfriend and I broke up, I got custody of the cats and even though Grey can be a huge pain in my ass, I cannot imagine not having them in my life. I almost gave them up in order to move in with a friend, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. Everything worked out in the end, I moved in with Jeff and even though he is not a fan of cats, he accepted that they were a part of the "package."

Yes, I am sure.
As you can tell by my blog title, I consider my animals my babies. I made the decision a couple of years back that I do not want children. Without getting into the boring details of why I made that decision, I am pretty open about my lack of desire to procreate. Luckily for me, my parents are completely cool with not having a grandchild or two since I am the only child. As a bonus, my boyfriend also has no desire to be a father so I don't have to worry about that.
It doesn't mean I don't like kids or those who have kids. I just don't want my own. I like having the freedom of giving them back to their parents when I had my "baby" fix. I find the reaction of those who I tell that I have no desire to be a parent quite comical. I often get the reponse, " you will change your mind once you have one." No shit sherlock... of course, I would love and care for my child. I know they are not like a pair shoes you can return back to the store. The whole point is not to get myself into that situation. Besides I have a 18 month old husky that requires more attention and love than 5 children combined -more on him later.
So my blog is intended to be light hearted and fun. A place where I can share my stories about the funny stuff my animals do.
